Leah (Queenofthenile) and I have been talking a lot lately and she has been helping me with my genetics. She reccomended that I seperate My Black male/Golden Argente Pied Female and put the Black male with my Black Pied Female. (we have a big plan for all of my gerbils ;D) The only problem is...is that my Golden Argente Pied female is pregnant. I feel bad seperating her from her mate before she has her pups, but the split caging with some of my other gerbils has already begun. She would be by herself until she gives birth, and then by herself with her pups. She would be left with a female pup and then retired. Do you think that seperating her from her mate would be damaging to her (emotionally/psychologically) ? Do you think she may be to stressed/lonely to raise her pups? Keep in mind, that she will not be alone once her pups are born.

That is the only thing you can do! Because they will mate right after the birth of the pups, so than you would have the same problem again.
But don't seperate them right before the birth of the pups, that may be too stressfull for her. Do it a while before that, so that she is used to live alone. Females can raise their pups alone, but of course most of the times the help from the male is easy and good. But when you don't want another litter of that pair, that seperating them is the only option for now in my opinion.
