hey everyone, On sunday, queenofthenile came over to my house and gave me her colorpoint slate female 'Asha' ( thank you!! ;D). She's a very pretty gerbil and she's very curious. I split caged her with my PEW male (Thorne) and they were together the next day! They spent all day yesterday mating and I managed to get some pictures. So, here they are. You can see my new gerbil Asha AND mating pictures all in one. Bonus! haha. Click the link below to go to my photoalbum www.picturetrail.com/gallery/view?p=999&gid=4958070&uid=2466945&members=1

Wow! Those are great pictures. I love the one where Thorne is resting. He looks all out, poor guy, hee hee. And if I can say so myself, Asha is a beautiful gerbil . Are you keeping her name? (Still haven't named the spotted agouti)

haha, thanks. I took your advice and used a desk lamp instead of flash. It really helped!
Yes, I'm keeping Asha's name. I really like it, and I think "Thorne and Asha" sounds good.

Do you mind my asking what recessives Asha and Thorne are carrying to you knowledge? Just very interested...

I can tell you that Asha is aa CchmCchm DD EE gg P* (I am almost 100% sure that she is PP). Thorne is ** ChCh DD EE GG pp. Ordinarily, you wouldn't want to chance breeding P* with pp, but there are no other Cchm gerbils in Alberta that are available. I advised Crazycritter to try this breeding pair and see if there are white pups. The problem is that all of her Ch gerbils also carry p . So she really doesn't have any more options if she wants to try for colourpoint gerbils.
