Thanks Queenie,
I will look it over. I guess I let the EE & pp & deh get the best of me. I really don't know what any of it is about. I have gone to different sites and they all seem to have thier own letters for each category.

That's okay, there is still a chance for lilac babies. If Tucker and Grace don't produce black or lilac in two litters, then you are pretty sure that Tucker doesn't carry a. At least you can still get argentes! I think pied argentes are very pretty.

Crazycritter has bred agoutis, argentes, blacks and lilacs before. After awhile you can tell whether a pup is black or agouti right after the first fuzz comes in. I can't tell the difference between agouti and black pups because I've never bred them. But give me cp slate, burmese and siamese pups, and I can tell the difference . It just comes with experience and knowing what colours your gerbils can produce.

Well, with your help, and lots of pictures and computer time, When I breed my agouti & blacks, you will have the experience You are right, after doing it for a while you get the hang of it. How long did you breed? Why did you stop if I may ask? Do you have plans on doing it again?

I actually only bred for about 9 months. I decided to stop breeding because I was hoping to move to Saskatoon for vet school. There is already a gerbil breeder in Saskatoon that breeds *all* colours and she sells some for feeders . So the gerbil market in Saskatoon is all taken up. I didn't want to produce fuzzies with no homes. After Aris was neutered, I found out that I didn't get into school. It was a good decision anyway, because Indira was getting a bit tired of having litters. She is enjoying her early retirement now . I hope to breed gerbils later, but not in the next 5 years or so because I plan on living in Saskatoon. If I move to a place with few gerbil breeders, then I might have 1-2 breeding pairs. I'd love to breed DEH, polar fox and grey agouti, or maybe schimmel. The siamese are very popular, however, so I may stick to what I know.
