www.critteradventures.com/I just came across these after seeing his items on eBay and what a NEAT idea! I think my daughter would absolutely die for something like this to put her two in. But I was wondering if anyone had any experience with them? They are almost 20 gallons. Very neat!

That's the first time I've ever seen those setups. It's a cute idea, but it seems like a lot of money for what you get. A child would probably think it was pretty neat, though.
The tank size is nice for a pair of gerbils and the wheel looks OK, but the house and food bowl are plastic and would have to go. The house looks small, too.
Speaking of cost, I got to visit both a PetsMart and a Petco for the first time today and I can't say I was impressed. I paid around $35 each for my 20-gallon long tanks and PetsMart was asking almost $70!! That's just crazy...does anyone actually buy them at that price?

Um, the Petsmart I work at sells 20 gallon long tanks for $30. Where is your Petsmart? Are you sure that's not a price for a combo (tank with light and hood)?

I agree with Peter those are too samll for most rodents. Even my charming dipodils need more space that that tbh (they are very active little souls). BTW did anyone check out the site? The colouring page has an interesting 'gerbil' TBH if they make basic mistakes like that then it doesnt give me much faith

So, 20 gallons are too small for gerbils?

Personally I like something a bit longer for more running room ect. I guess the cages look alright although to me I don’t like the shape and feel they could be a bit bigger length or width wise. Its the first time Iv ever seen those also.. Why not make a bin cage for about 25 bucks and have lots of room and space, good ventilation, not much draft and keeps the bedding inside. www.hamstercentral.com/binarticle1.htm

After you asked, I started to wonder if maybe I was mistaken, so I called the store and the price they quoted me on a 20-gallon long was $27.99. It was the 29-gallon that was around $70 and you were right on that, too, because that price included the extras you mentioned. Thanks for pointing out my error. Sorry I posted the incorrect info. RW

I personally thought the cages were a bit cute although I doubt I would be getting one because I have plenty of set-ups as it is. As for "Why don't you make a bin cage......." I see that suggestion 50 times a day when reading this board and to be quite frank, I do have several set-ups which I use the bins. I personally prefer the 29 gallon tanks however as they look a lot better to me and while it is a bit time consuming to clean them, I'm much happier with them than I am my bins.
Now, for the cage I posted above, I thought it was cute and I was thinking it would look good in my daughter's room. It is equal to a 20 gallon tank, so there is quite the room, but my gerbils certaintly do not live in their tanks forever. They run up and down my stairs on a daily basis, run all around the tub, etc... I have one set-up that is 2 10-gallon tanks on a stand with tubes for the gerbils to run back and forth. While not a professional breeder, we do enjoy our gerbils as much as we enjoy our degus and our bird and our cats - their personal satisifaction comes first. So, no, I'm not going to consider any more bin cages, but instead, will consider another 29 gallon tank for them. I set them up in a way where they have multi-floors to play in.
What bothers me most about the bin cages, someone on here had a gerbil get lose because it chewed it's way out. At that time, I had already been transferring my gerbils into tanks, but that confirmed my worries and I'm planning on taking ALL of them out of the bins except for when I clean up the tanks. I also find it tacky to have all those bins stacked up in here. I have three right now and it's just tacky to me, especially since they are in a main area where people come in and can see them immediately. The tanks look so much better and the gerbils have plenty to do in them just as they would in a bin.
It's all in a personal choice of course, but to see "Why don't you consider a bin cage...." followed by a link, that just drives me insane to see it on so many posts.
