Isabelle is giving birth right now! She has 3 of the babies delivered so far. Oh my gosh I am so excited I can barely see straight. It is so funny because she started acting strange and gave up chewing on a cake box I had just given her and would go off into her nest. I said to my husband, oh my gosh I wonder if the poor thing is having labor pains. He's like no way she will probably give birth while you are at work Saturday. And then she started delivering. She is giving birth inside the cake box. I just covered the end of the cage with a towel for privacy but keep looking in the box, through the tank of course, and she is cleaning them off and you can hear thier first cries! I can't believe I was here for the birth of these beautiful babies!

I don't know haw many babies so far , I heard squeaks several times and Digger (the male) took one of the babies and cleaned it off for Isabelle. They are so tiny! I had no idea just how tiny they really were. She has moved all of the babies out of the cake box and into the nest. How long does it take for her to give birth to all the babies? Digger has been booted from the nest and sleeping outside of the box on the side. He perks his ears up everytime he hears a noise. My Matty says he is protecting his babies. I believe that too. I talked to him for a minute and he went and climbed up on the house and looked at me like "don't even think about disturbing my wife!" I will take a look at them when I get home from work tommarrow. She is a new mama and I want to make sure she takes good care of them. I did see that the one Digger was taking care of had Milk in its belly. They are SO TINY I will try and get pics out. A friend brought over his digital cam so i will try my best.

Congratulations ;D I have only seen one birth an that was the first litter we ever had. its amazing, most of our female have them at night now, except piper who waits till we have gone shopping I expect the dad is guarding his babes . our males do that, when you put you hand in you may find they will hold your hands to check your not going to pinch any LOL and if they have ahd enough you may get nibbled LOL.. otherwise most our pairs don't worry about me touching them.. I believe I have counted 6 or 7 babies. I don't want to touch them yet, they are less than 12 hours old and moma and papa both have nipped me when I put my hand in the tank. I have been able to pull the tissue nest she has them in but I wont pick them up for a day or so. I can see Milk in thier belly's so I know she is feeding them. I have given mama and papa thier breakfast so they are tolerating me watching the activity in the tank. It looks like they are all healthy and being feed and kept warm.

i just picked up the babies and was able to count all of them. I put a tissue in my hand to prevent too much of my scent from being on the babies. There are 6. They are less than 24 hours old and they all definitly look healthy. Isabelle had just feed them so I was able to see they all had food in thier tummies. One didn't appear to be moving and I though he was dead but I stroked him a coupld of times and he started a wigglin'. I can't wait for them to start getting some fur so I can see what color they will be. I am hoping to take some Pics tonight so I should have some with them around 24 hours old. Yea! New babies, healthy babies, happy mama and papa.
