I've read lots of sites, but I do not find information about if we need to give a different treatment to the new parents in the first 2 weeks... Somebody could give me some advice?? I've been treating them like always, but I don't "take them apart from the tank. kisses Laury

I am not sure what you mean about different treatment to new parents.
Do you mean that it is the pairs first litter and you are not sure if they need some extra assistance with the pups? If that is the question, I don't think you need to do any thing. Just let the parents take care of the pups. All you need to do is make sure the Mom has extra protien. If you haven't separated the male already, then she will probably have more pups in about 4-5 weeks.

I refered to a couple with a litter, any litter, and I was asking about the parents care, for example: if it's recommended to not take out the parents of the tank. And I was asking about the common and rare behaviour from the mother and the father during the pups development. That kind of thing isn't in the web

When gerbils have pups its quite simple usually treat them as normal handle them as normal (unless they indicate otherwise) handle the pups daily if mums happy Increase the protein ( a few cat biscuits is enough) as the pups grow keep an eye out if anything does go wrong there's loads of advice on websites and forums Don't seperate the pups from mum till at least 5 weeks but make sure bothers and sisters are apart by 8 weeks www.gerbils.co.ukwww.gerbilshowsuk.orgPeters own site and many more have advice

I would add that you should not take Mom out of the tank for roaming free. The pups need her for milk and to keep warm. At least that was suggested to me a while ago. Other than that, make sure there is nothing in the tank that can fall on the pups if the bedding is moved or shifts. I emptied the tank of toys and give them lots to chew on and lots of food.
Good luck. Can't wait for pictures.
