Yay! The gerbils I introduced less than a month ago who went into a mating frenzy right after being introduced have given birth to their first litter!! ;D ;D The mom is a first-time mom and had *8* pups!! The dad is agouti (a, c[chm], e, and p recessives), and the mom is spotted/pied lilac (might be sapphire, it's difficult to tell because of the spotting - the pups will tell for sure!). So far all I can really tell about the pups' colors is that there are four dark-eyed and four ruby-eyed. I'm so excited because these are my first spotted pups! ;D

Congrats on the babies!! Have you gotten pic's yet? wow 8 pups for her first litter , that's going to keep mom busy:) I'm waiting for my first pied litter ;D Mom is honey cream Aa Ccb ee Gg Pp Spsp and dad is black aa Cch Ee Gg P-spsp living w/his dad and brothers in a different tank right now I'm not introducing them until this weekend, because we're going away for thanksgiving., and I've only had the honey cream a couple weeks so I'm waiting for her to grow a little. If your going to find them homes, I'd be interested in any CP pups, I'm looking for a mate for my mottled slate girl.

I'll post pics as soon as I have them.. right now mom and dad gerbils are running around going nuts trying to take care of the little guys. ;D And mom seems a bit protective. And wow, your gerbil's genetics are simply awesome!! So many possible colors, I'm jealous! And it doesn't look like I'm going to get any CP pups from the mom - she does appear to be a pied lilac, not sapphire (unless burmese pups look dark when they're young, which I don't think they do). Still, the dad has one c[chm], so I am expecting some sapphire and topaz pups! And yes, I will definitely be looking for homes for them. ;D

Thanks ;DI'm really excited about their first litter. My previous litters I didn't know the parent's full genetics (numeg X DTW - the black is their son) so they always had black pups. They were really cute but hard to find homes for How are the pups doing? I've never seen a topaz gerbil before, do you know what colors or sexes the pups are yet? I'd love a pied sapphire or topaz pup, I live in Rochester, NY if this is close to you, and I could drive to meet you partway. I'm hoping to have 2 breeding pairs, one for variety of colors, and one for mottled pups. The babies are always so adorable that I have trouble giving them away I was thinking, since your pups carry c(chm), and mine all cary ch, one of your sapphire/topaz pups with one of my black pups, would have siamese pups;D, and LCP nutmegs if yours carries recessive e. Have you managed to get a pic of the pups or is mom still anxious about them?

Argh! It seems like everyone who's interested in adopting pups lives so far away from me! I live in Alabama. I wish there was an easy, safe, and relatively cheap way to ship gerbils! Anyways, I do finally have pics! I'm going to post in the member's photos section in a few minutes.
