I finally put my gerbils in terrarium (I made wire screen lid I gawe them fat coating of scobs (to make they can dig, it is imposible to make burrow in that, but they can dig very much). And apeared a problem. On that soft bedding, thupming is imposible to hear. Gerbils thumping when they are scared or sexual excited. So can they breed when they can't hear thumping?

Gerbils also have much better hearing than we do. So even though you can't hear the thumping, your gerbils certainly can.

ABSOLUTELY. Even if they can't hear the thumping, they havea keen sense of smell and can smell when the female is in heat. They rely on all of thier senses for the mating ritual!!
