How old do gerbils need to be when they are unable to mate anymore?
Both male and females?
I have a male and female very near 24 months old and another male close to 36 months. The female was living its entire life separated from the males along with the mother. The mother just died, and we want to introduce her to her brother and fathers cage. They all lived in the same cage, separated by a wire divider.
Any advice??

hi Thats quite old and if she did get pregnant it may cause complications. I think she is too old though. If she did het pregnant however it would cause imbreeding so be very careful. Cant you get another female to keep her company. Also she may not accept the male if she has been alone for a long time. Im no expert at this though. pixytwinkle

The female may still be able to produce offspring. I wouldn't chance it. Also, it sounds like to you want to introduce the female to two males. Since the gerbils are all quite old, it is very unlikely that they will get along.
