Since nothing I find seems good I will try to shred packing/cardboard and make my own finacard. www.erodent.co.uk/Bedding.htmSo I will use cardboard rools, finacard and hygienic paper for nesting. Looks like a good plan to me!

you can just use paper, any paper will do. that's all eco-bedding is, is shredded brown paper (like a brown paper bag). The down side to paper is that it needs to be changed a little more often.
Also, check your hard ware store. i don't know if ya'll even have pellet stoves down there, but they might sell wood pellets, which can also be used.

I use a mixture of dust-extracted softwood shavings, dust-extracted timothy meadow hay and shredded office paper. My gerbils seem fine with this, they've been living in it for 2 1/2 years. Never shown any signs of allergies, never had noisy or clicky breathing or sore or runny noses or eyes. And they can dig tunnels because this mixture of materials holds its structure pretty well.

I just found out that my father doesn't have the shredder anymore. Anyone have any idea of how I could do it?

Just rip it into sections and let the gerbils finish the shredding job... They love to chew. It would keep them busy.

I got some of the wood shavings available here and put it on the oven. The kitchen was smelling like resin.
Seems like that brand of shavings wouldn't be good.
