Hi all - a friend of mine noticed her gerbil has injured one of his back legs. We're wondering if he can have any kind of pain meds tonight to tide him over until she can get him to a vet tomorrow, but I have no clue what to suggest to her. Can gerbils have metacam? If so, what dose is recommended? What about infant ibuprofen? I have a lot of medications on hand as I run a rat rescue and work at a vet clinic, so it's likely that whatever you can suggest, I'll have on hand.
Thanks in advance!

I know you've got the gerbil in by now. But I just came back to check message and thought I'd answer in case anyone else has the same questions. Yes, they can have Metacam. I have been told to give mine a drop every three days but some have seemed to need it more often. Also someone else on this group-her vet said to give them baby aspirin. I have given mine that but they don't eat it. Hope you're friend's gerbil is ok.
