;)i think this is the right place for this sorry if I'm wrong.. so i am pretty amped to make a gerbil documentary for a class I'm taking!! i could use some of your help ;D now first I'm torn on what KIND of doc to make? either a owner's guide type ware it walks you threw buying/finding your gerbil/s to feeding caging cleaning cage. tameing.colors.breeding.. All played out in a you watch you learn kind of mode.. or a documentary that is like a story.. of a gerbils life, but threw out it's life<getting a home/bonding with human/getting a mate/pups/ growing up pups..and death/> is a learning curve within the story. possible you grow character fondness.. either film will be educational but in very different bounds. witch would you as a watcher want to have it be like. I'm so far gathering video's of my gerbils doing gerbil actions. grooming/playing/ect right now.gettting info together and a script. .. also at the end for a part everyone can have a part in!. I'd like to have a photo slide show, witch everyone's<submited> gerbil photo's will be featured in. i will burn the documentary on DVDs.-wink- more info coming soon, it's 6 am i need to go to bed.. I like the life cycle of a gerbil idea, but might be difficult to get the footage if you wanted to use the same gerbil for the documentary. Both ideas work though

yes, I can see how it is a much more difficult option to produce.

slow progress as i am not getting much support any ware .not even in my class i was hoping that the gerbils forum would have been helpful . but i am going to do the educational theme of "a how too" using my gerbils and any others submitted vid's of gerbil's doing any of the listed subjects I listed a while ago.. but i may drop to enter this in the competitions as it costs 60$ as an entree fee and at this rate i think i would be throwing my money away,, so ill just do it for class and have cut the run time to the minimum for class 15 mins but I'm glad my bf is being a help,, so if anyone feels i should continue and try to revamp it and not just go minimal just let me know i have done a few more cam-cording, getting good cage needs video like water bottle food dish wheel and cardboard tubes... and tonight i plan on making some music to use in the documentary

I found that lot of people dont even know what Gerbils are and how to care for them, where they from etc. In 15 minutes you can tell what their natural habitat is, how they became pets, why to split cage them and how to care for them, how inquisitive they are etc. In that 15 minutes I could talk for England about gerbils, there are so much Info you could use

hmm a bit far but thank you maby if you take a slew of pics on the split cage prosess that would be good i can add it in a slideshow type part.. such as the splitcage..set up and switching the gerbils and also if you can get pics of them sniffing threw the cage and or trying to attach each other, via splitcage and scent makeing things in th cage.. and then if they start sleepy by each other in the split cage.. the whole shabang would be awsome i live near worcester and currently dont have a fullpayingjob and can not afford the gas to drive out of my city.. but thank you very much
im also interested in good pics of different colors of gerbil's and i want full permision to use them.. like good close ups of fur eyes and nails.. good way's to teach people the color differences! i currently only have good pics of my gerbils nutmegs sp agouti and sp lilac.. so any other colors would be great!!!

Well, here's the thing... its your class, its your grade. You should have a vision of the comepleted project, and know what it is that you want to be in your final cut. I don't know what you're looking for, specifically. What views, what angles, if you want things zoomed in or out, if you want the camera to follow the action, or be stationary, if you want the gerbil perspective, or the human perspective, what kind of lighting you want. What you want in frame, and out of frame. Do you want certain color backdrops behind the tank... do you want it on a bookcase, in a bedroom, what you want to be around the gerbils, is it a childs room? is it the living room, the glass is reflective keep that in mind, because you will be able to see the room in the glass as well. There is alot to consider here, and quite frankly, you have to make all those decisions, and those are just the ones i could think of off the top of my head. If you are just deciding to hodgepodge togeather whatever you can scrounge up off the web, your end project will lack any unity.
The offer is still open, you can come and visit. Worcester is only 30 minutes away from me. I know i used to go to college there. I wish you the best of luck with your project, but you should really do all the footwork yourself.

yea i will find a way to get the footage !! think a friend in leomnster will have me over as she is planing on getting new gerbils ,so a perfect split cage opp!! but as for color's of gerbils i believe this one i def will need help with cause its just impossible for me to have every gerbil color.. i wish but that's a far dream lol.. maby you can submit a few or your lovely color-points and you can chose the back drop!! and true i really want to do the footwork cause it is my project!! but i also like to add the fact that with gerbils there can be communities of friendly gerbil enthusiast's!! ;D

I hope it goes well belldandy, it sounds very interesting. How about a "day in the Life of a Gerbil" would be easier to produce, fun and educational. As long as they don't sleep all day!!
