My spoiled gerbs!
Today I was browsing around the pet-store (as usual!) and I found some nice looking bedding I had been looking for. My friend uses it, and her gerbils looked much happier in it than mine looked in their cedar/aspen mix. I ended up buying them a super-size bag of sand *AND* two bags of this bedding in that one shop alone.
I continued on to a few other shops buying new stuff for the gerbs...
Later as I was changing the bedding, I looked at the back of the bedding, and it said *hemp bedding for small animals* (in German). A thought crossed my mind! In Canada and America it is the most expensive stuff there, where I live it cost 5.00 Fr! That is worth $ 3.73 in the US! Most bedding her costs at least at least 6,00 Fr and is about half the size! And hemp isn't dusty, I live in a family who is allergic to everything under the sun, so this is great!
So, the new things in the gerbils' cages now are...
1. Hemp bedding which they LOVE to death! 2. A super-size bag of sand 3. a new water bottle each 4. New bowls for the sand 5. Firewood to chew on. 6. Oatmeal and seeds.
And I found SO many things under the bedding. Now everything in the cages is natural!
In other words, I have the most spoiled gerbils on the planet!

wow, lucky gerbs! What makes Hemp bedding better then their old cedar/aspen mix? Can u post a pic of their new cage? Do Paws and Sterling get along with Phoenix, or do they still live in seperate cages?

They still live apart. Hemp doesn't crumble like their other stuff, and the other stuff is very messy. Hemp is woodeny and kind of soft. It is also rather than being packed, very loose and smooth. Also, they can do alot more with hemp, and you can see them LOL, overall, I love it!

I think that mine are the most spoiled under the sun. Over here we can only get wood shavings for the cage and many types of bedding for the nest. Lets think... mine useually have at least 5 wooden toys in the cage. A supply of fresh fruit/veg. Millet. Fir-cones (when the season is right). Other treats they get is dried fruit, shelled pumkin seeds and even Hazel, Almond AND pine nuts!!!

Hahahaha, mine just have to make do with whatever's in the cage (usually three wood things, plus the older two have a coconut) and get more fun running around my room / sofa / me!
