For the past couple of days or so my Gerbils back has been...a bit funny. (I have two female gerbils about 4 months old)
For some reason her back has been..moving in a strange way. Like the skin keeps going up and down in the way it would do when you pet a cats back and its rump goes up. Bit of an awkward explanation but yeah haha.
She also seems to be vibrating when she does this too so im a bit worried. Her sister is completely fine though. Thanks

sounds like your lady gerbils is very happy and content, nothing is wrong with her when they vibrate, it is like a purr from a cat, very happy. that skin moving on the back is a gerbil thing, my do it all the time

Don't think I've ever seen them do that, seen them vibrate but not the back thing.. like a muscular spasm?? If so, that can be a sign of pain in rats.. not sure if the same applies to gerbils though. Sure gerbils sometimes vibrate when they're ill too, bit like cats purring - it's not always a good thing, it can be a self soothing thing? I'm sure I'm wrong, never seen a gerbil in heat so if everyone else thinks it's that then that's prob all it is.
