how do i tell if one of my gerbils is using his water bottle? i have seen my gerbil taco using his ocashonally when i go downstairs to there aquariums, but not pooky (my other gerbil). i would have thought that if he got thirsty he would go and search for water, and find the water bottle, but im not sure. so how can i tell?
thanks

Just take it out for a day or so, then put it back in and he should drink.

Yes. Sometimes I will forget that the gerbils need a refill of water and they will be out for a couple hours. Then I find out and I fil it up, then they drink immediatly! It is one way to make sure he knows how to/knows where the water bottle is.

I personally find that my gerbils only drink at certain times of the day, like in the morning and when I have just changed the water (late at night). Perhaps you are just not in the room when your gerbil has decided to have his 'Drinking Time'

so you think i should take it out for a while, then put it back in and watch for a while to see if he drinks? how long should i take water bottle be out for?
thanks
ps. malabui, you could be right. it is possible that i have just not been in the room when he drinks, but i would just like to be sure that he knows where the water bottle is, before i go away on holiday.
