My gerbils like to have monkey nuts. They put so much energy into getting out of their shells and it's very cute watching them running of with a whole one in their mouths.
Up to now they've had unroasted ones. Today I bought a new bag and only noticed when I looked at the small print that they are roasted. Is it ok to give them the roasted ones?

not quite sure, but would assume as long as they're not salted they should be fine?

Look in the ingredients and front of the package to see whether they've added salt or other seasonings. Plain roasted nuts are fine.

Are they the ones in the shells? I give them to my duo. Just check for salt

Yes, they are roasted in the shells. No salt or other ingredients added.

as far as i know a monkey nut, it just a peanut.
yes you can feed peanuts, though in moderation.
also, you should feed unroasted, unsalted, raw peanuts. Roasting isn't bad, it just causes some of the nutritional value to decline.

Well, I now know that they don't like roasted peanuts - they wouldn't eat them!

I bought some in the shell because I thought it would be cute to watch them eat them, and would give them a bit of mind stimulation, but my lazy gerbils tried for like two seconds and then gave up. Honestly!
