So about a month ago, I bought a pair of female gerbils. They had been housed together already at the petstore, and I kept them together when I bought them. They really seemed to like each other. One is silver agoui and one is solid black.
Unfortunately, my cat knocked the tubing off and the black one, Jade, escaped. She ran into the office and we had to buy a live trap to catch her. She was gone a week solid until we finally caught her. We fed her and watered her, obviously.
In the mean time, we thought she was dead. We bought Rose a friend, a tan female we call Ginger. I think she's cinnamon. They got along extremely well immediately, and still do. We caught Jade four days later, and let her get acclimated to the aquarium seperate from the pair. The next day I tried to introduce Rose, the silver, and Jade, the black one. Rose seemed happy to see her, but the black one chased her, and I seperated them. I tried again a few days later and this time it was worse.
Is there any hope? Should I just get Jade a new friend and not press my luck? She's getting lonely, and I worry that she's bored.

If the original pair will go back together, let them. Then find the new gerbil a new friend
