Okay so our gerbils are the cutest things on earth! Is it okay to kiss them on their little backs lets say? ?? They are just so irresistable! I just can't help myself. I wash my hands ever time I play with them but still, they are just so kisseable!!!! I think they are super healthy, it's been about 2 weeks since we got them and their fur is nice and shiny and they've never had diarreah, they are constantly grooming each other and they get the chinchilla sand bath atleast once a day. Is it okay?

I don't know if you should or not, but I always kiss mine... they're really soft!!!! I avoid it when i've got a cold/sniffle because i'm sure some diseases can be transmitted. but i guess if they don't mind you kissing them, there shouldn't be too much of a problem..
I sometimes stick my head in their tank and if they're interested they come over and give my face a sniff.. i see that as them giving me a kiss... but then i guess i'm a little odd!

My fiancee and I both kiss the gerbils regularly. She kisses her cat on the nose and I kiss her. We're all still alive! lol I think it's OK if everybody involved has a normal immune system and nobody has an active cold.

I give my gerbils kisses on their backs. They are so warm and soft. We also do quite a bit of nose touching too. Sometimes one of them will sit with their nose pressed against mine for ages

They smell wonderful too - have a little sniff while you kiss them. Good daily diagnostic as well if there is any bad smell there may be a problem.

I'd be lying if I said I've never kissed them. But I don't usually. If you really think about it, they live in bedding that they pee & poop all over in. So they will get particulates on their fur, then in your mouth.
Now, I'm not a germ-a-phobe, but I do keep that in mind & don't do it a lot. Some germs are good, it keeps your body active I guess, just make sure you realize that they burrow in poop & pee. :-)
But it sure won't hurt them if you kiss them!

Don't forget that the human mouth is an awful, germ filled, unhygienic place (ask your dentist). A few more germs from your gerbil won't hurt. Also the gerbils lick each other all the time and come to no harm. (Please don't lick your gerbils )

I do kiss my boys sometimes, even stroke them with my nose. If I am lucky, Korny grabs my nose with his front paws and grooms my nose As my grandma once told me 'to have a good immune system, you need to gain some germs'

Oh! My husband is a 3rd year dental student, there is no way I would tell him I've been smooching the gerbils! Then again! I'm sure he sees a lot grosser stuff in clinics each day!

I have two strapping young lads in their early twenties and our home was never anything those "fragranced" spotless sparkling antiseptically clean homes you see in TV adverts. Nothing like them at all!
