Figured I might as well start looking for a friend for my lonely boy. Would prefer a young/baby male, ideally not black (so I can easily tell them apart) but will have black if no other option. Happy to pay for him. An ideal arrangement would be to have a male to trial run with mine, if they get along then for me to keep him, if not to be able to return him as I do not want two lonely males to worry about Happy to travel upto 30 minutes in the car, figured further than this and it's not great for the gerbil. Either reply here of PM me. Thanks

You must not get another gerbil until you have done some research - the home you have is not good for them and you need to know how to introduce them properly - you cant just pop them in together and hope for the best. Do some reading first and then ask for advice/herlp on here and I'm sure people will assist.

I understand that I need to do a split cage introduction and that it could take months or not work at all. I have read about the signs to look for such as sleeping close together, grooming though bars, and as a newbie to keeping gerbils I would take everything very very slowly, but figured that if someone on here was expecting a litter in my area soon then it would be idea to ask now, reserve a male and bring him home when I have a better set-up. I am asking for help and advice, and I am reading. I am getting a bigger better set-up for them, and I already do things to keep the one I have entertained. I am not going into this light hearted, I got the male I have without knowing much about gerbil care and am now paying for it. I do not intend to do any more without knowing what I am doing, but I am a beginner at keeping gerbils so mistakes are going to happen. No one is perfect.

I'm not near you - good that you are reading and asking for advice - you will learn and gerbils are great pets so you will have fun learning - good luck.
