I'm 16 years old and have 6 gerbils which have been kind enough to let me share their 10'x12' bedroom. Problem is, with 4 gerbil cages/aquariums in that size room, it has been getting a little crowded, not to mention looking like a zoo! I have 2 cages in the bookcase, 1 on my desk, and 1 on my dresser. I know some of you here have a lot of gerbils, so I was wondering, where/how do you keep all the cages? Any suggestions, besides renting an apartment for the gerbs ? I have been thinking of adding shelves or something, because it's driving me crazy...

My room is 10x12 as well and I have 5 gerbs. Fortunately, they only take up two tanks worth. I had to rearrange my room to fit the gerbils in! If you have to, rearrange your furinture in your room and make sure to clean it once in a while. It helps you get around much easier.

I stack my tanks (3) on their own shelf, one twenty gallon on the top and two ten gallons on each shelf below. I bought it from Bed Bath & Beyond, one of those 'dorm' shelves so it was pretty cheap (30+ bucks). I keep empty tanks (3 ten gallons) in my basement covered in sheets.

I recommend this www.walmart.com/catalog/product.gsp?product_id=1757088 you can stack 5 10-gallon tanks on it and it costs something like $28 and it will be delivered right to your door and its super easy to put together. I havent received mine yet but several of my breeder friends use it ;D

Thanks for the ideas...they are all good. I know I need a central area for my gerbils and supplies so they aren't taking up my whole room. Squeakster...I like the shelves that you posted, but I was wondering...is there enough space between shelves to allow you to fully open the hinged tops of the tanks?
I don't have scanner, so I can't post my sketches, but my idea is something like this:
TANK 1 TANK 2
TANK 3 EXERCISE BALLS
GERBIL SUPPLIES TANK 4
Tanks 1, 3, and the basket for supplies would be on shelves on a wall. There would be a floor lamp in the corner to give light to all 4 tanks. Tanks 2, 4, and the exercise balls would be on the other wall. Hope this isn't too confusing...would this work?

lol jess, i'm a bit of a neat freak, and my room has been anything but neat lately with all the bedding that gets kicked onto the floor. Does anyone know how on earth they get bedding out of the tanks? I just don't know how they do it unless one of them holds the lid open while the other one kicks the bedding out...
