Hai guys So im looking for a stable vet for the gerbils and I made an appointment for next week at a petsmarts Banfield and they said it would be $32 for the litter check ups. I called a local animal hospital and they said $42... Do you think I should pay more for the hospital? Who do yall think would be better? Im completely willing to pay $42. moneys not really the issue lol I just want to take them to someone who would know what they're doing with the gerbils being so much smaller then a cat or a dog

i would ask if what they know about gerbil illnesses and how they treat them and make sure they have a vet who has dealt with gerbils/knows how to handle them. I hope they are all well.
take care, Tammy

The people at my ban field were so nice when I brought my hamster in when she was sick. I don't know where you live, but they had a rodent specialist so I guess all other ban fields do too. They didn't all they could to help my Roxie, and I will be bringing my gerbil boys to them too if need be.

Ask both vets if they can trim gerbil teeth, and how they do it.
Trimmming gerbil teeth is an incredibly easy and simple thing to do, if the vet wants to use a file or dremmel or if they want to put the gerbil under anesthsia then i wouldn't take your gerbils there.
Not all banfields have vets who are qualified and have the knowledge and experience to treat rodents, most will treat them because petsmart has a contract with them to treat their store animals,.
I recommend finding an exotics veterinarian.

I found an exotic vet near by, im going to give them a call tomorrow and try to schedule something for Tuesday if i can. Hope i can if not then the banfield also said they have a "specialist" but everytime i call he seems to "unavailable" to talk or not in the office that day

What banfield are you talking about? If you're near Columbia I can give you the email address, but if it's not the one I'm thinking of I can't help you out.
If you can't easily get a hold of them via phone or email I usually go for the vet who I can talk to who can ease my fears about small critter surgeries and such and who I know will be around in event of emergency. Unless the one I can't get a hold of is an expert and the one always there only knows dogs/cats.

Austin pet hospital has good faculty of doctors to treat the animals in a good and in understandable way. Their faculty is highly educated and experienced one.

Whether the pet hospital or Banfield would be better entirely depends upon the quality of the individual vet. I would try looking up reviews. I went to a local Banfield with an issue with a rat, and while they were nice and did what they could to help, they were not knowledgeable about them at all.
