Please help, I am not sure what to do I had Digby out on the couch with me today and she crawled up on top of the couch edge and she was about to fall off and I went to grab her with both of my hands but she wriggled out of my hands as she was falling and I grabbed onto her tail by mistake and I did not realize how hard I grabbed when I tried to catch her but it must have been hard because she squeaked and I noticed her tail looked kind of floppy where it is usually straight as a nail and now it looks like it is pulling more to the left now, she is acting okay digging away and chewing on everything in sight but I am not sure if I accidentally injured her tail or what I am very worried that I may have done something to her. Could someone please let me know? Thank you SO MUCH.

I am very paranoid and worried at this moment because I will be truly devastated if I seriously hurt her. I mean so far she has been on her flying saucer running about and she hasn't acted like her tail have been injured but I just want to make sure and the tail is still pulling more so to the left but she does not act hurt.

It's possible she is favoring it because it's sore? The thing to focus on is that she is acting normal and seems to not be in pain, i think. Keep an eye on her and see how things progress. And be nice to yourself; accidents happen. Based on how you describe the way it looks, it might be sprained or possibly dislocated ( ) I don't know if that's even possible. Pictures or a video would help.

I am keeping an eye on her she is hidden away right now but if it is possible that her tail is dislocated I dont think I would have the gall to pop it back in place *dies* she hasn't even acted that her tail is hurt just running about and chewing on timothy hay.

If the tail is no longer straight and its swollen chances are you broke her tail. Tails are extremely easy to break... this is why so many gerbils do not have straight tails. Many people think their gerbils have kinks and blame it on genetics, but most tail irregularities are caused by being broken.
She will be fine. If you want you can take her to a vet and get her some metacam to help with pain and swelling, but there is nothing that can be done about the break.

Thank you! I have not noticed any swelling I have been keeping an eye on it and it seems back to normal she does not act that it is hurt in any way so perhaps I was paranoid but I know their little tails are so fragile. But I shall remember that information thank you again!

Try not to feel bad about it, she could have gotten really hurt if she had fallen off the couch. I would keep an eye on it and make sure she's not in pain.
