i want to make a double tank topper, but i don't know how to situate it on the cage or make trays for bedding. can you help me out?

Can you describe what you mean by a double tank topper? Something like this: -> ? And you can use wood to make a frame

I have a split topper, that was custom made for me by someone on ebay that makes and sells wire toppers. It fits over a 20 long or a 29 gallon tank. I use it for permanent splits to give more space to the gerbils, but it can also be used on a non-split tank. ETA: I said ebay...I meant Etsy. Here's a picture of it:

I see. That could basically just be a double tall topper. You mention bedding trays, but I know why or how you would use those in the topper. You can have the tank filled high with bedding and then the topper can be for exploration, toys, water bottles, etc.
