helloooooooo everyone. So lately I feel that my girls are seeming cramped in their 10 Gal. tank with topper. it is a standard 10-gal tank. I was looking to expand to the Savic Habitat Xl that is 70 X 37 X 52 Cm its just a touch bigger and the bottom cage is deeper but its the top part of the cage i am more interested in because it will give my girls a little extra free roam space.
HOWEVER, I unfortunately live in the U.S. where these tanks are extremely rare and the only one I have found that is on amazon.com is well over 200$ which to me is outrageous when ones that are available in the UK are only 40.
So, I was hoping to know if any of my U.S. friends on here have had any luck finding a tank that size that is under 200

I know your pain. I live in the US too and before I got my pair I searched the web looking for a cage like that, but came up empty. I would check craigslist and ebay just in case something like it shows up, or a tank shows up at a good price. I think the cage you mentioned is close in volume to a 40 gallon breeder. I think at petsmart they have them for 100 dollars. And with a little DIY you could be able to use your topper for your new tank. I don't have a wire topper since my younger gerb chews like crazy and snapped his tooth off because of it, but I made some shelves so they have climbing room and are able to interact with me.

I have been checking around at other types of tank toppers and seeing which i could DIY but the issue is the shelves I want to try and find the good shelves people are using but again I need them in the US not the UK its so frustrating.

Well I am from the UK I am scottish and have a home in Scotland but currently live in the US for personal reasons. I myself have a scottish accent so I know all about the wonderful accents XD
The kind of shelves I am looking for are the ones I see people have like glued/epoxied in the aquarium tanks that make multiple levels!

oh, i know what you mean now. they just use glass that is cut, look around your area for hardware shops that cut glass or a glass cutters place. they use silicone to glue it on. from the tutorials i've seen it looks like an easy project. I made my shelves since there are not any glass cutters i could find, so i just used some corner molding, think dowel rods and sheets of plexiglass.

You can make a Perfecto tank pretty easily. Other members have done it. Here is the guide gerbilforum.proboards.com/thread/10924/tank-shelves-perfecto-photosIf you have your heart set on that combo though could you see if a UK member was willing to buy and ship one to you? From what I understand they are easy to find in the Uk and are cheap used. So it would be a lot cheaper to Paypal them the money and then have them ship it over vs buying it here.

Hi Digby! Can I just say that I am SO jealous you have a scottish accent! I can't even fake one half-decent, lol. Anyway, I ran across a recent CL add where someone is giving away their Perfecto tank with gerbils (FREE) about a 1-1.5 hour drive away from my home in Atlanta. I'm moving soon and have no need for the tank. But I don't mind rescuing this sweet pair and letting someone else have the Perfecto. atlanta.craigslist.org/atl/grd/4596755469.htmlHowever if anyone on here wants to beat me to the punch they are certainly welcome to... I just want the pair to have a good home.
