My gerbil started squeaking today. She has always been quiet. She is squeaking pretty consistently and is itching. She seems a little lethargic and confused at times. She still moves pretty quick and is eating. Or trying to. Any ideas on what it could be? What can I do to help her? She is about 3 - 4 years old. She's always been healthy.

You should bring her to the vet. It's really hard to tell what the problem is without actually being there to investigate, or even having the professional knowledge of a vet.
Her symptoms sound similar to on of my previous rats when she had a pituitary tumor - I don't know about them in gerbils but the rat was off-balance, confused, lethargic, and having a hard time eating/holding food. She also was unable to groom which made her pretty dirty and itchy.
The constant squeaking and lethargy would really concern me.

My gerbil had symilar simptoms when she had a tumor. However with the itching, I have never heard before. Try checking your gerbil for fleas and making sure her cage isn't dusty to prevent dust mites from living there.
