Hi! I'm new and I need help! I think my gerbil is dying and I can't find a vetenarian to take care of it! I live in Quebec, Canada. Do you know any adresses? sites, anything? Maybe you could help me. She's been acting strange lately, she has no energy, her eyes are always half close or completely close, she's double in size in a week, she has no apetite, she's trembling a lot. Even when sleeping which she does a lot and doesn't care to be in her nest to sleep! She doesn't chew. I don't know what to do or give her. Thanx Steph

I will try to help you...
How old is your gerbil? And had she got any mates? If she has, are the other ones acting the same? (Sorry for my bad English, but I'm Dutch). In Holland I often give my gerbils extra vitamins we have got it here in drops or in pouder... they pouder you can make a thing that looks like porridge (I hope you will get me [yoghurt]) And I often give them some food for baby's whithout any cowmilk in it, with soya in it, I hope for you that somebady else will react also soon... Good luck Oh keep her warm! That's also important!

i don't know if this is any help, but what i usually do when i need to find info on something and don't know an exact place to get it(like you needing a vet for you gerbil), i go to www.google.com and type in keywords of what i'm looking for and hit enter. what google does is it gives you lists of websites containg the keywords you entered. some example keywords that you may want to use are,1) gerbil veterinarian, 2) sick dying gerbil veterinarian, 3) sick/dying gerbil, and so on. i hope this was of some help. i hope all goes well for you and your gerbil.

Maybe you can try to contact Queenofthenile (Leah), she is also a member on this forum (only very busy lately), but she lives also in Canada. Here some post from here: gerbilforum.proboards21.com/index.cgi?board=shat&action=display&thread=1081013713. And of course searching the internet may help too, Tigru's tip too! And maybe you will find some aditional info on my health and diseases page ( www.petermaas.nl/gerbils/health.htm), or for example on the Medical page of the Gerbils Anonymous website: www.gerbilsanonymous.com/Medicalindex.htm. That is also a good website that works with the symptoms of diseases. Bij looking at the symptoms the page will bring you to a certain disease or ailment. And you have given my the idea to make a category or board where everyone can post where you can find good gerbil vets!

Oh, that is very sad. I'm sorry to hear that she passed on. It is always hard when one of our little friends crosses the rainbow bridge .
