My 6 week old pups are still clicking on and off. As I said before in the other post, the sand was causing it. Once I removed that they all improved. I had them on medication for about 2 weeks without much improvement before I realized what was causing it. I have 5pups/4 adults in a 10 gallon tank. (yes I know, wayyy too small) I just cleaned this thing 3 days ago. It already smells pissy because of the plain/unscented toilet paper I gave them to sleep in. I picked up a pup today and he was clicking loud. The black one who was always the worst has some faint clicking going on. All have smooth coats, active and alert... no hunched over in a corner or anything. Noses seem clear and no redness. Isn't clicking an allergy symptom anyways? Because I really think it's something causing it, like the pissy smell mixed with humidity? (even though they're in a basement, and have a lot of cardboard boxes to hide under where its' a little cooler..) Or do you think it's a respritory infection, going on and off for like the last 3 weeks? As much medicine as I already gave them for it before..They're probably immune to it now. And these pups hate me because of it..none are tame. I don't get it. It's not genetic nor anything I am using. I didn't have any problems like this with my first litter.

Hi, I had a pup who had clicking on and off for 3-4 weeks. Every time I thought he was getting better, the clicking would start to get worse again. I had him on baytril for about 9 days and then just gave it to him every 2-3 days because too much of it can be bad for them. I also just gave them plain toilet tissue which helped, but did have to be cleaned every 2-3 days. I had mine a in a very large duna though and would use around 2 rolls of toilet roll each time I cleaned it! After about 4 weeks of this he suddenly got better! He's doing brilliantly just now and is about to be moved to a shiny new 2.5-3 foot tank with a couple of his sons! His name is Pookie I will say that the smell and the cramped conditions will not be helping. I know you already know their housing is way too small...are you going to get a bigger tank for them? I don't know if you can get Carefresh where you are but I'm using it at the moment for a litter of 6 pups. I really think it has helped as 3 of them are totally fine and the other 3 only have very faint clicking. I have also heard that megazorb is meant to be very good if you can get that. Floppy

7*** weeks old today and they've been clicky since I posted this. Then today I go to check on them and not 1 click. But I'm sure they'll be clicky again soon. I haven't done anything different at all other then having fans on.. Maybe it was the humidity? I actually had them on Carefresh at first, and that's when this all started. When I switched back to the regular bedding I used, it stopped. When they were on the Carefresh, I let the adults take sand baths, but the pups were no where near it.. Maybe they got some up their nose from sleeping with the adults or something...It'll probably start up again soon. Maybe I'll try the carefresh again.. What's also weird is my 2 female pups..are completely fine. They're also in a 10 gallon tank with 5 other gerbils. They haven't clicked since I removed their brothers. And yeah, they're all going to a much bigger tank. I wanted to make sure the boys all got along first for a week or 2. So they couldn't hide in opposite corners away from eachother. They really don't seem to mind the space though. They have their cardboard to chew and dig under and 3 wheels (wheels hang from the top) ;D
