Hello all and thank you for all the good information I found on this board. I have two gerbils, Stan and Ollie. They are doing very well. However, one of their favorite treads is corn (one piece at the time), that comes in a seed mix I got from the store which I bought them from. I do not feed them that seed mix, but separate the seeds (sunflower etc.) to use them as treads. I don't want to buy a pound of seeds to separate the once I use for treads and went ahead and ordered a bag of sunflower seeds and some corn. the sunflower seeds are perfect, but not so the corn. The corn in the store, which is for human consumption is soft and comes on a cob. The tried corn (freeze dried) is very soft too, almost the consistency of popcorn.
The corn in the mix is hard as stone and my gerbils love it and it's also something good for their teeth I guess. So, my question is: what kind of corn is this and where can I buy it?
Thanks

I've never heard of dried corn being soft. Where did you buy it from? Can you show us a picture?
You can buy dried corn cobs in most pet shops as small animal treats, then you can pull off the individual kernels and feed them as treats.
