Hi all, back again with some health questions about aki.
He still has that spot on his ear, it hasn't bled or anything like that, its just still the same pink color as always. If you want to see it there should be a photo of it on a previous thread i posted a while back.
But i come back to Aki again. I'm not sure if its normal or anything, i only just noticed recently when i picked him up. But i not sure if its lumps or something. Not on his scent gland that looks normal i think, but on either side its like two small bulbs under the fur. I not sure if thats normal or if i'm just worrying like always ^^;;;
I haven't noticed anything similar on my white gerbil Gray so i was wondering if anyone knew. I will try to take a photo if i can, but its hard to hold onto a squirming gerbil in one hand and a camera in the other ^^:;;
Hope to hear from you all soon ^^

Probably tumours or cysts, a good vet would be able to tell you and make a recommendation about operating or not. On one hand early intervention can prevent it become more complicated to remove, on the other hand it probably won't bother him until it becomes an open wound. How old is he?

I dont really know how old my boys are, i have had them for over about two and a half years. I only noticed the lumpyness under the fur recently, i checked the other two and they don't seem to share the same thing. But he doesn't seem to be bothered by it, he eats, drinks water, runs in the wheel and takes treats as he usually does.
*edit* it really is unnerving having to looking up what could be the problem and seeing all the problems gerbils can have. even worse when you see pictures of it.
also picture taking is really not happening. my gerbil is unwilling to stay still and my camera takes too long to focus on him. the best i can do is to try to describe it.
now from what i have seen, i see where the scent marking part is on the gerbils belly. kind of the tanned oval part, well i don't see anything that i have seen in the photo's. what i see is next to the scent gland on either side, like two small balls on either side underneath the fur. like little lumps. now i have touched them very softly and my gerbil shows no discomfort when i do, he squirms as he usually does to try to get out of my hands. he isn't a fan of being handled but isn't aggressive about it.
that's what i have so far, does any of that ring any bells ?
also does anyone know any vets for gerbils in the newcastle, tyne and wear area in england. because i'm finding it a little hard to find somewhere close by and reliable.

This is my boy, its taken longer than i would have hoped to get a picture of his underside. he is quite the wriggler. Anyways, joking aside, does anyone know what it could be. I'm going to try and get an appointment at the vets for next week. But i would like to hear from other gerbil owners what it could be. I hope you can tell from the picture.
