Can gerbils catch conjuctivitis "pinkeye"? I have it. I know dogs and cats can catch it. I'm afraid to touch them even though I'm obsessed with washing my hands. Or go near the tank.. with my luck something will leak out and fall on their heads. lol

Yeah regular conjuctivitis. Makes your eye pink though so they usually call it 'pink eye'
It is nasty. Me and my dog used to pass it back and forth when I was younger because we used the same pillow. The dog I have now is banned from my bed. lol.

If it can spread to cats and dogs, it can likely spread to rodents as well. You can wash your hands and then sterilize them with an alcohol-based sanitizer. That should prevent any problems.

I leterally mean this. If you want to handle them, but are worried about your eyes dripping, you can wear sunglasses, or something like that covers your eyes but you can see through it!

Whoops...I had pinkeye a few weeks ago and handled my gerbils. They were fine, though. On the other hand, my infection was very minor. But that's my experience.

j, I love your descriptions. "like fall out of my eye and drip on them or something". Very funny. Hardy har har. ;D
I needed that thanks.
Hope all goes well.
