I have about a month/near two month girl named Brink who really needs a mate. I don't want to get another female because I want to breed them. (Also, is two months good enough to breed? She was born about late august)
I don't know her genetics, so I will just describe her. Jet black eyes and coat with a large stripe down her chest, neck, and mouth. also some white on her toes. I want a male that will produce colorful babies if possible. Her mother's first litter was with a burmese male 5 months ago. Thats how I got Brink's older brothers, who look just like her. Her parents also produced a second litter a month ago where I got brink. All were also black.
EDIT I was thinking either schimmel or champagne.

A spotted red-eyed polar fox who had at least one colourpoint parent and one parent on the self side. This would offer you all the recessives you need to pull anything out of your black female. That way if she has any recessives on any locus it would match them up and give you a choice of colours. It would also add in all the colours on the Agouti side plus spotting. However, you won't necessarily get all these colours in your litters.
Firstly though, you need to read up on all the breeding threads on this forum as there is plenty of information about when the 'best time' to breed from a female gerbil is - and it generally goes on her condition and health rather than her age and your convenience. A female gerbil isn't fully grown at less than 2 months (8 weeks) - and she has no doubt barely been away from her mother for a few weeks at the most, so to put her with a male to raise her own litter now could be very stressful and also affect her own long-term health. According to at least one thread on here - females can come into heat cycles earlier than 12 weeks if paired with an older male making the situation worse.
Anyway, I know how exciting the prospect of breeding is, so if I were you I would get reading or asking all the things you need to know on this forum - because finding the 'prefect' male might take some time anyway...
