Hello, For some reason, my 3-year-old gerbil has been really active and really excited lately. I took him out for a little playtime, and I noticed that he keeps running around in circles. He stopped a second, then started bobbing his head up and down. I was afraid that he was having a stroke or something, but I don't know. To note: My gerbil has been blind since birth, had a stroke about a year ago which left him paralized with a head tilt, and a tumour on his scent gland (which was removed). He's pretty healthy (I'm really surprised he's been through so much and is as active as ever!) But I'm really worried about him with his running in circles. Could someone please help me? I would greatly appreciate it. - Jenni

Oh dear. He's been pretty active this morning - he's still eating, drinking, and chewing the paper towel roll I gave him. Do you think he's okay? I hope he is.

If he keeps running in circles, something is not right! I would say a ear infection or stroke too.
How does he behave in its cage, running in circles too? If he stopped doing that and he is doing well, eating, drinking and behaving normal it might be fine, as far as he can be fine. It has to be a strong gerbil with all the ailments he has had!
If he is acting normal and active, eats and drinks well, and if he has good droppings, it might be OK again!
