One of my gerbil pups has recently come down with a respiratory problem. I’ve gotten some medicine for him, and I got him some dust-free bedding as well that will hopefully help. Is there anything else I can do for him to help him pull through his infection?

Did you get ornacycline med? How old are the pups? Corncob bedding or carefresh Ultra are the least dusty beddings, some toilet paper for nesting can be dusty- so give her lots of shredded unscented tissues. For ornacycline mix it up like the directions say but make sure you change the waterbottle every single day- and wash it very thoroughly inbetween changing the med because some of the med residue stays behind. If the pups are under 3 weeks, you'll have to give it to him directly via eye dropper, that can be really hard.
Is both mom and dad in with the litter helping out? If his fur is normal (not rumpled) and he's still sleeping with everyone he should pull through, as it's not a very severe case.
If the infection gets bad you can try supplementing him with Kitten Milk Replacement, soaking a piece of bread in it for him to drink. Just make sure he stays warm and mom and dad are still looking out for him
Good luck!!

Thanks for the advice. I guess we're doing pretty good so far. We're already using ornacycline and carefresh, but we didn't know about the kitten milk. Luckily the father and the mother are helpful in keeping him warm. Thanks again for the advice, we'll let you know how it turns out.

Hi Snow,
How is it going now? Is the little one okay?

He's doing much better now. We held him yesterday and couldn't hear any clicking. At first we were worried because he wasn't drinking the medicated water we put in his water bottle, but then he finally started drinking it after we held the bottle up to his mouth enough times.
