Well, I just took out Madison to treat her cut nose with some thyme tea... its supposed to work well!... and I put her in the bathtub so I could get situated. Well, as she was running around, I noticed something. She had pooped nine times!! I counted the pellets... nine of them, all came out in about ten minutes. Is that normal? Was she scared? It was her first time in the bathtub, and she may have been frightened. Milan did the same thing, only she pooped six times in about ten minutes.
What's going on??

I'd say she was just nervous, especially if it was her first time in the tub. If her poops looked OK, not soft or runny, I wouldn't worry. Did she pee a lot, too?

No, she only peed once, and that was only a little bit. If she had been peeing a lot, I would have been running down to te White Hen on our corner to get some test strips to make sure she isn't diabetic! (I'm a little too over-protective)
Both Mensk and Monroe were also out, but they didn't poop as much. I think they were more curious than scared. Also, maybe it was because the bathtub has Milan and Madison's scent on it. (I took them out seperately for conveniance.)
About their nose problems... is there any possibly way that the gerbils might be allergic to the Carefresh bedding?

I have one pair I put in the tub when I clean their tank and they always leave lots of little "presents". I think they're just excited, because they love playing in the tub.
Gerbils can be allergic to any type of bedding. I've had a couple who couldn't tolerate aspen and another who got a red nose on Carefresh. The worst sore noses I've ever had were on two gerbils on Carefresh Ultra. Within a couple of days of putting it in their tanks, their noses were a mess.

Hi, allergies do not usually cause a lot of poop, the first symptoms would be scratching, red areas and/or sores. Assuming her poop was normal, don't worry.Either she pooped a lot because she'd recently been eating,so was normal bodily functions or she was excited/nervous from the new sights/sounds/smells.

Unless I misunderstood, I don't think Panther meant that the allergy and poop things were related, but that she had taken Madison out to treat her nose and the question about the poops came up while she was in the tub. So basically, two separate questions, is that right, Panther?
