Heyho! Wodka (CP Nutmeg, aacbcbD(d)eeG-Pp) and Whiskey (Spotted siamese, aacbchD(d)EEG- had their second litter last week. Today the fur of the pups came in and I was a little surprised to see large dark spots on some of them. I've done some research and I figured it could be dark patched gerbils. According to the article I've read, it isn't related to a gene or something. Thats why it is very coincidental I have multiple dark spotted pups. Does any of you have more information or experience recognizing it? Also, any ideas on the colours yet? Here are some pics: The second from the right has a spot above its nose. 3 pups seem to have spots. Gerbil in the top has the most spotting. More detailed look of the most spotted gerbil. Could anyone confirm my suspicion?=) Thanks again!

From your genes given they can only be the following:
Burmese Siamese CP Slate LCP SLate
and then dilute versions of all of them.
I know a little about the dark patches being linked to normal spotting but I have only only ever had 1 in a litter - but several within the same line. But never as much as that in a pup. I did get a large amount of colour-changing at a moult before in a PEW (there is a thread on here somewhere with images) which was all to do with the CP genes.

dodowvogel - how did these pups turn out in the end - I would love to know... Was it their fur or was it their skin? Do you have any updated images?

So, were all the ones with patches Pink Eyed Whites then?
And they are coming up to their 8 week moult aren't they, so things could change (if there is anything going on under the surface)...
