Hello guys, I have a question for you all. Seeing how my females first litter is now at 3 weeks, I am wondering if I should separate the father from them, My plan was to let my female have her first litter and then when the babies got old enough I would separate the male from the female, I am planning on keeping at least one boy from this litter with the father once the babies are old enough to be away from the mother. I was going to leave one or two girls in with the mother as well, if she is pregnant I was hoping it would be slightly less stressful on her to give birth to another litter with help from her daughter. I read that if she is pregnant, she can give birth to the second litter from between 4 to 5 weeks after her first litter. that is why I am asking if I should separate them now before she gives birth to the second, I would like to avoid her having 3 litters in a row. Thanks guys! here is a cute picture of the family together. Noctis the father is spooning Mew while she nurses her pups, mews face looks so happy, I hate having to separate the male, but I know it is better then letting them breed non stop.

Yes, anytime from 3 weeks is safe if you want to avoid a third litter, I usually wait until I see the mum swelling up before I take mine out, that way not only do they get longer together so the pups have dad around for growing up, but also, some litters are so delayed that you can take the dad out with a pup or two at the same time. Saves reintroducing them.
Also, if she doesn't have a second litter straight away then mum and dad are still together to give it another try if you wanted. There are lots of things to consider.
