How do you know if the bites are bad enough that you should go to the vet? One cheek bite looks quite deep.

if you think the bite looks deep and really painfull for your gerbil then i would take him/her to the vet just to be on the safe side if it is just a scratch or a small wound then i would say he/ she will be fine. I hope your gerb recovers fast ;D

Finally, i decided to take her to a vet. Marty's wounds seemed much worse than the other sisters. The vet said she should be fine and I got some antibiotic drops. She isn't very keen on them, but she was licking off the antibiotic ointment, so this should be better. Now i have to work on re-arranging their cage. Their space is much smaller now that i've had to cut it in half (good thing it was a big cage to start with)
