I am going to make a bin cage for my gerbils but do not know how bin the bin should be, ( I have three gerbils and they will all be in the same bin cage.) I would google it but I would rather get the info from experienced gerbil owners. and what kind of wire should I use for the best ventilation, and where should I put the proper wire? sides and top or just sides or just top?

That's great that you're going to make a really nice home for your gerbils. For 3 you'll probably want a nice big bin so they're happy and comfortable. If you're looking at Amazon something along the lines of this: Sterilite 106 Quart Latch would be a good choice. A solid coloured lid will be a lot easier to work with than the clear lids. Putting 1/4" or 1/2" hardware cloth in the lid is generally adequate. I've done parts of the sides on occasion but it all just ends up clogged with tossed bedding and you can't ever get it clean. Gerbils toss everything about. Looking at Amazon their prices are quite astronomical! I guess they have to set the price high because the shipping is very expensive. If you pop by your local Wal-Mart or similar store you can find the same thing for $10 - $30 depending on current stock and sales. The really nice bins are sometimes only brought in for sales and aren't available every day. For more help, I have a very popular bin cage building page on my site: Storage Bin Cages

I would also like to add that sometimes the bins aren't 100% smooth inside, and you might not be able to tell this when ordering online (although amazon's pictures seem to be better than some other websites'). If there are "edges" inside, the gerbils will probably try to chew them.
