Well I bought a new gerbil, a female, and stupid me, even though everyone says not to, tried introducing her to my other 2 females. There is also a 4 week old baby in with them. They were fine together when I had them out on the couch, they sniffed each other and didn't do anything, then after like 30 minutes of that, i put them in the tank together, and for like 5 minutes everything was fine, then there was a little quarrel, nothing bad, but then i saw the new gerbil touching the baby, It squeaked a little, and thats when I took the new gerbil out. I put her in a different tank, but when I came back to check on the others, the baby's back legs were not working. he was just dragging them behind him. He looks like he's in pain, he keeps rolling over on his back, and won't walk around. He's breathing really heavily too... I'm pretty sure his leg/s are broken. Has anyone else had this happen? I read that they heal themselves. I do not have money to take him to the vet, and as tiny as he is, its not like they could do anything for him. Is there anything I can do? Do you think he will be alright, or could this be fatal? Thanks for your help!

I am sad to say that the baby died about a half hour after it happened. I'm not sure why really, I didn't see any marks on him. Maybe there was some sort of internal bleeding or something. I came in to check up on him and mom was carrying his body around, poor momma. she seems sad now, it was her only baby. R.I.P. little guy

awww sorry to hear about baby I would imagine he had internal injuries and possibly a broken spine. There is nothing more you could have done for him.

Oh my gosh, is that the gorgey little black baby? Oooh nooo he was so pretty too!! What did the new gerbil do to him? And, admittedly, you were tempting fate a little by introducing a new female into the group, despite the good beginning. But still, I hope the poor baby had a decent funeral My heart goes out to you.
