I just noticed what looks like blood around Dakota's left eye. i know that their mucus can be mistaken for in so i don't want to over react. they were just out in their balls while i cleaned out the tank. right after i put them back Dylan mentioned that something looked wrong with Dakota's eye. i took a picture so let me know if there is anything actually wrong. there wasn't any signs of fighting and Dakota is acting normal so i dont think it is affecting his vision

If there were no signs of fighting or chasing after you put them back in their tank, I wouldn't worry too much for now.
However, if the eye is still red or looks worse in a few hours, I would take a closer look. Mine sometime get a scratched eye from something they are chewing which looks like that, and they groom it clean after a short while.
It could be porphyrins from stress which the wheel could have caused, or something only gerbils will ever know stressed him out during this same time. But again, this will be groomed off too in a short while.
Keep watch for the next few hours for any more clues...

it cleared up in a few hours. i doubt it was stress from his ball but maybe something else upset him or maybe he scratched himself on their wooden house. thank you for the reassurance
