Poor Burkie... She has been through so much, with her nose problems and all, but now it's the ears. She itches her left ear all the time, but only the left ear. I examined her and didn't see any mites or sign of infection.
Does anyone know what her problem is?

Could she be in the early stages of an ear infection? Look for a head tilt. Or it may be polyps in the ears. I think the vet should check it out. He/she can do skin scrape (for mites) and check the ears.

I agree with Doom. You may not be able to see the mites (most are actually microscopic) or there may be an ear infection further down, like in the middle or inner ear, which you wouldn't necessarily see with the naked eye. I would call up your vet, personally.

For ear mites I've used garlic infused olive oil drops. Also mixed with oil infused with yellow dock. Put a drop in the ear, then use q-tips to clean them out. Do it often. Should take a week to clear up. Make sure to change the bedding frequently. You can also try ivomectin if you want to be thorough. And yes, if you aren't sure if it is an ear infection or mites, the vet will help. They can do a swab culture to check for mites under the microscope.
