I found this recipe on the gerbil cottage website and was wondering if it meets the nutrition requirements for gerbils:
Ingredients 2 Cups safflower seed 2 Cups oat groats 2 Cups buckwheat 2 Cups flax seed 2 Cups millet seed 2 Cups canary grass seed 2 Cups barley 1 Cup sesame seeds 1 Cup pumpkin seeds 1 Cup shelled walnuts 1 Cup almonds 1/2 Cup shelled peanuts 2 Cups dried peas 2 Cups dried corn 2 Cups dried carrots 2 Cups dried alfalfa 2 Cups dried timothy hay 1 Cup dried coconut 1 Cup dried pineapple 1/3 Cup dried berries 1/3 Cup dried apple

Sorry for the late reply here, but I am not sure how to work out all the relevant nutrients and percentages of a homemade diet myself as I haven't ever really looked into it properly.
Most of the individual ingredients look good, but added together you can get different results - and some good ingredients contradict each other when combined in the body. Nutrition is a complicated thing. As is sourcing the best ingredients.
So, if the place you found it have been breeding gerbils and making their own feed for more than 5 years, I would be inclined to think that it was a pretty decent diet - otherwise they would have stopped using it themselves after getting gerbils that didn't look as good as before. Their diet would have evolved through experience hopefully in all that time.
If it from a site that just keeps a small number of gerbils as pets only, then I personally would be inclined to stick with the one recommended on here or one from the store (with a few added treats of course).
But that is just my opinion of course.

It sounds like a very balanced diet, but like Betty said, some things together could ruin the nutrition in one ingredient. I think it's a good diet for pet gerbils, though

According to me I feel this is quite healthy. Have tried it at home and was very happy to find it great. Planning to share it with my friend who was looking for such a nice recipe. She has found out few recipes on Nom Video Sharing app. Will also recommend this one.
