Where'd you get that idea? Aspen is fine, cedar is not and non kiln dried pine is not good, I've also heard that sawdust is bad too, plus its too dusty.

My gerbils love plain white copy paper. I started doing origami-like things with the paper and they just adore the toys! Origami waterbombs (no water inside of course) with a couple sunflower seeds stuffed in makes an excellent (very temporary) toy. Also they like origami baskets, and basically anything folded up. Mine especially love the basic "steamboat" design.

A wood hole cutter drill bit set has been a great piece of kit to have as a gerbil owner as you can simply turn the ticker cardboard tubes into great play tubes with number entrances or exits plus it makes it easier if trying to join tubes together plus if like me and building your own gerbilarium its ideal for drilling the holes for adding the Rotastak tubes if wanting to add extra tanks/space or popping a wheel on the side
Customisation in now only limited to my imagination

My gerbils love jars too. I stuff them with bedding and TP and they unstuff it. It keeps them busy for a while! They either empty about 3/4 of it and sleep in it or empty all of the bedding and use it as a bathroom, which keeps the tank cleaner! I also got a really nice bassking platform for 10 dollars!

My gerbils ADORE sleeping in my old ugg boot!! They bring paper and bedding into it and whenever they want to sleep they go in!! Also they ADORE heat so i usually fill a hot water bottle with warm water, cover it in a towel and they love lying down and stretching on it! Its too cute!!

Wood chewies! They always need chewies, and the wooden toys, though slightly more expensive, last longer and are a little more effective at wearing down teeth than toilet paper tubes.
Also tissue paper makes FANTASTIC bedding material. I give Bubbles a whole sheet (not the waxy stuff) and she tears it up and pulls it into her nest. Her bedding throughout her tank is now pretty colors from all the tissue paper.

if youre gerbil borrows the food bowl take it away! very easy just straw the food a little bit every where in the cage and the gerbils will love it it will feel much more natural for them and no more thinking about if the bowl is borrowed under the bedding or not

how do you introduce a new gerbil to two others with out the one getting hurt? As far as I know (I've never done it before, but I'm taking this advice from several others who have) just use something called a 'split-cage method' which you will find instructions and a guide for several times over on this forum. ~tangerine

4) Gerbils love dried corn, this is a good treat, and they will play with it until the whole thing is eaten. You can buy a whole corn rather than the kernels in a package.
Question about this: I see those tiny dried up corn cobs x4 in a bag at the store, and they're like brown and gold colored. But they're a bit pricey. Is fresh corn on the cob okay? Like can I defrost some frozen corn on the cobs and throw them one? I give my boys a few greens now and then but they seem to just enjoy yogies, cheerios, and hay out of everything I've tried.
Edit: Thank you for this forum! Found out I should switch to sand because of it. Honestly my eyes see 'sand' and my brain reads 'dust', if you know what I mean. *bangs head against desk* Going to food store later, hopefully they'll have some and I can test it out.
