So this is kind of strange.
Peej is playing on my desk tonight, and i notice he is peeing, little drops and smeers all over my glass desk top.
He is only peeing there not on the other wood top desk, or on the papers or mouse pad, but when I put out some tissue to cover some of the spots, he does use this to poop on.
He is eating/drinking/sleeping and looks fine.
His bottom doesn't seem wet to the touch.
I have delt with a bladder infection in a gerbil before (many years ago) and it was obvious this gerbil was ill (Hunched over, wet bottom, puffed fur). Peej dosn't show any of these signs.
But this dribbling has me concerned.
I know that Cats/Dogs with UTI like to pee on tile, or other cool surfaces, to help cool the buring feeling.
Is Peej doing this?
Is he just 'marking" my desk all over, over and over again?
He was on ornacycline a bit back when I notice a bite on his face made his face look swollen. It went down in a couple days and he was fine.
Now I know antibiotics can through off the natural flora in your belly, which can make the chemicals in you go wonkey, causeing a bladder infection.
Is this what may be happening to him?
He wasn't on the ornacycline very long, he didn't seem to need it.
So I'm thinking tomorrow of getting some Yogert and give him a little of that (for the acidopholice (sp) to put the natural good bactria back) and then cranberry juice (for the bladder infection).
Both shouldn't hurt him, as long as I don't give to much. And if he is ill it could help.
So, do I have a good plan?
Or should I wait and see if he gets any worse?
Am i over reacting, do gerbils just enjoy peeing? (None of my others pee this much on my desk).
Oh and as i finish this the peeing has become less frequant.
I think I will go put him away and clean my desk now
