My female Burmese Hana woke up this morning with a bloody nose. At first I thought that it was just mucus, but I think she actually has a cut on her nose. She keeps scratching at it. I'm not sure if she's having an allergic reaction to aspen bedding or if she cut herself there diggning too much, or maybe while chewing on her little wooden house. This morning I cleaned out her tank and put in fresh bedding and toilet paper and managed to put a little neosporin on her. Do you think maybe she just scratched herself? or is she having alergies?? I played with her today and she squeeks normally I think - and she's eating fine. So, I don't think its a respiratory infection.

is there hair missing from around the nose and does it look sore/inflamed? if so, it could well be an allergy but if it is just a little cut, then she should be fine i'd remove anything sharp from her cage/tank so that she can't scratch herself again though i'd watch her over the next few days, and if it looks uncomfortable for her (she keeps scratching it, it looks really sore and inflamed) then it'd probably be a good idea to take her to the vets to get some treatment and if she does have an allergy, change the bedding in the cage to something like corncob or mebbe carefresh? ;D

yes, now there is a little hair missing since she's been rubbing on it so much. I'll change her bedding today to corncob, carefresh could be too dusty for her. Thanks for being so helpful!
