Do gerbils have a 2nd eye lid like cats? I'm sure I can see a tiny bit on the inner part of the eye - is this normal?

Isn't it only really cats and reptiles who have 2nd eyelids? *looks at Kess* Is it the corner of the eye you're looking at? On Sienna (argente) she has a white / bluey corner of her eye (if I turn her one way and shes trying to look at me) and it does look a little freaky

All right kiddos--
All animals (including people, dogs, cats, and gerbils) except for fish have a third eyelid (technically the upper and lower lids are the first and second eyelids) The third eyelid is more pronounced in some types of animals (birds--especially owls, and reptiles) But is still there in other animals. If you've ever seen a dog with 'cherry eye' that is a prolapse of the third eyelid. In people, you can only see just a very little bit of it in the inner corner of your eye. The third eyelid is made up mostly of cartilage (same stuff as your ears and nose) and is attached to the tarsal gland which makes some of he secretions needed to keep your eyes moist and healthy.
