Hello,
I had two male gerbils de-clan today. (almost gave me a heart attack!) They were only fighting for about 40 seconds to 1 min, and it doesn't appear to be life threatening, but could be! Is there anything i could put on the injuries? Kiba has one on each side of his mouth, and Shimmy has some on his mouth and possibly one on his shoulder. My mother and I are cleaning them up now, and i don't want the injuries to get infected as Kiba is my favorite gerbil! Any help will be greatly appreciated!!!

Wow not many cases of pairs declanning - and in males I guess just make sure they're clean and don't show signs of infection - Megan or someone will probably have a lot better advice than me on this front sorry Good luck with them

Yup, clean em up with a damp cloth, you can use Hydrogen peroxide if you have any (keep away from there mouth wound just in case) and polysporn or other non-toxic antibactirial cream.
Sorry to hear about the fight, had anything in their tank/enviroment been changed?

We got a product called Duraclens from the vet when we had a Gerbil with injuries from a declanning. It's safe if they should ingest it and it keeps the wound clean and protected, and helps to prevent infection. If they do manage to wipe it off a thin film still remains. It worked great on our girl. We keep some on hand now, just in case. Keith & Luana Green Mt. Gerbils
