I'm hoping this is in the right place - Sorry if not,
I was wondering if it is possible for gerbils to catch bugs off us. I have a cold/fluey virus thing and wondered if it was ok to hold Eugene at mo? I seem to remember reading somewhere that hamsters could catch bugs off us and wanted to check!!
Thanx for all your help.

nah, probably not a human viral upper respiratory infection. Most human illnesses will not make any animal, dog or gerbil, sick. There are a few diseases that can be passed between rodents and humans, most notably e. coli, salmonella and tyzzer's disease, all bacterial infections. Just wash your hands before and after handling them and you should be just fine Hope you feel better soon! -Megan
