I found Diego walking sorta funny... His right legs seem to be having difficulty moving and his right eye is half open and his right ear is a little bit droopy. Does it sound like a stroke? What can I do to make him more comfortable?

Yes keep him warm, make sure he gets fluids and aid him eating. You can find lots of good advice on caring for and feeding sick gerbils on the forum. Good luck

Thanks, he still has his companion, and a heating pad by the tank. I lowered the water bottle (just in case) and gave extra flax seed and some dried apple (he LOVES it)...

I fed my gerbil who become paralized from a stroke apple sauce, so she didn't have to chew or open anything if she didn't want to. Open seeds, cereals and such would be a good mix to help him eat without difficulties.

Wow, I must say Trouble is GORGEOUS (what color is he?) Diego is doing pretty good... He's 3.5 years old and still somewhat active, although sleeping alot more and slowly losing weight.

Thanks, Kim, although that's not his most flattering photo. As to Trouble's color...well, good question. His parents were both Gg Burmese, so he could be either spotted Burmese or spotted CP slate. I think maybe CP slate since he looks more grayish than brownish. Glad to hear Diego is hanging in there. Hopefully he'll pull through OK like Trouble did. I think Trouble's stroke must have been mild, because it only took about a week for his ear to come back up and the eye squint to disappear. The weakness in his legs cleared up in just a couple of days. None of it seemed to bother him at all and I wouldn't have known it had ever happened if it weren't for the physical symptoms. RW

What I find amazing about Trouble's color is the fact he's spotted AND his fur and points are still so dark! My spotted burmese were always lighter than that, and my CP slate is a little bit lighter as well and he's not even spotted... I know, I'm sidetracking my own thread, but Trouble's coloring is just SO dark!!

Huh, I never really thought about it, but Trouble is pretty dark. He's the only Burmese/CP slate I've ever seen in person. I guess the spotting could have made him lighter... Here's a better photo of him:
