My gerbil escaped because the door of the cage was open for 2 seconds and i was trying to pull her back but the top of her tail(know i shouldn't pick her up by her tail but i was a bit panicking and she's not that easy to handle) (1 inch in length) just came off . it was bleeding a bit but she didn't seem to be in pain. Should i disinfect this or just let it heal

The remainder will dry out and either be chewed off or drop off. Imagine a wild gerbil caught by an eagle, the eagle gets a tail snack and the gerbil gets to live!!! If there is excessive bleeding or infection develops see a vet.

Keep the wound clean, and make sure the cage is clean too. You can always see a Vet and have the exposed end clipped off also (do NOT do this yourself), otherwise as Doom has said it will fall off or get chewed off later on. Accidents happen, and I'm sure you will be more careful next time.

Exactly. If the tail has stopped bleeding then tbh you may as well let nature take it's course. Keep it clean but don't fuss it. Gerbils have a high pain tolerance and heal amazingly fast so injuries often bother us more than them. And yes accidents sadly do happen. My adorable Harlequin is presently recovering from a serious fall where she (I think) broke her pelvis. At first she couldn't raise her hind quarters from the ground but she could swish her tail and feel her legs. Just over a week later she is walking (with a slight limp) and keeps climbing from the tank whenever we lift the lid.

It's stopped bleeding but i do see a little piece of bone sticking out. She's acting fine eating well drinking good(and being aggressive to my sister hamster , didn't put them together just let them smell each other) And your right about me being more careful i won't pick my gerbils up by their tails
